Rebelution – Senator Theatre

Rebolution new album peace of mindFormed in Santa Barbara, California by a group of college music class chums, Rebelution was built from diverse musical backgrounds united by a shared passion for reggae. The band first garnered attention in the local college rock circuit, going on to score radio play in key markets in Southern California. A self-titled EP appeared in 2006 and its breezy fusion of roots and rock immediately set the group apart from reggae-infused ska punk acts such as Sublime and Long Beach Dub All-Stars. Rebelution’s breakthrough release, COURAGE TO GROW, appeared in 2007, becoming an iTunes top-ten reggae download and editor’s pick for the Best Reggae Album of the year.

“Cosmopolitan pop that blends classical, jazz, and world music.” — Omaha Wolrd-Herald

Genre-hopping and über-hip, Pink Martini blends cosmopolitan sounds with around-the-world musical influences, resulting in a sound that has been described as “global cabaret.” As Pink Martini bandleader and pianist Thomas Lauderdale says, “If the United Nations had a house band in 1962, then hopefully we’d be that band.” Their latest album, Splendour in the Grass, is a carnival of musical influences with one grand purpose: to rebuild a worldwide culture that sings and dances. Singing with Pink Martini at their Laxson performance will be Storm Large.
